AIRCOM is the largest independent supplier of network planning, optimization, and Operational Support System (OSS) tools for mobile networks and service providers, with offices in 14 countries. It offers local insights while leveraging global expertise. AIRCOM was later acquired by Teoco, a US-based company, to enhance solutions and services for mobile and network operators worldwide.

As a User Interface (UI) Designer, I played a pivotal role in the development and enhancement of network planning and optimization tools designed specifically for mobile network engineers. My responsibilities encompassed several critical areas, including:
  • Leading and Developing UI Solutions

I took the lead in conceptualizing and developing user interfaces for network planning and optimization tools using technologies such as Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), Windows Forms, and Silverlight. This involved crafting intuitive and efficient interfaces that facilitated engineers in executing their tasks effectively.

  • Requirements Gathering and Analysis

A significant part of my role involved engaging with project managers (PMs) and stakeholders to gather and comprehend their requirements thoroughly. This collaborative effort ensured that the tools we designed aligned with user needs and business objectives, enabling me to translate their insights into actionable design elements.

  • Wireframing and Visual Design

I focused extensively on wireframing and visual design for desktop applications, adhering to established design guidelines and iconography throughout the entire suite of tools. This included creating layouts and visual elements that not only enhanced usability but also ensured a cohesive look and feel across various components of the application.

  • Creating Specifications and Collaboration

To bridge the gap between design and implementation, I developed detailed specifications that outlined design intentions, interactions, and functionality. I maintained ongoing communication with developers and product managers throughout the design and development process to ensure that the implementation was aligned with the original design vision and met the project's objectives.

  • UI and Functional Testing

Part of my responsibilities included conducting comprehensive UI and functional testing to ensure that the user interfaces operated smoothly and met usability standards. I meticulously documented and reported any bugs or issues I encountered using JIRA, facilitating timely resolutions and contributing to the overall quality of the software.

The primary deliverables I produced in this role included detailed wireframes and high-fidelity visual designs. To accomplish these tasks, I frequently utilized tools such as Microsoft Expression Blend and Microsoft Expression Design for crafting the user interfaces, along with Microsoft Word for documentation purposes and IconFx for generating high-quality iconography. Through these tools and processes, I was able to effectively contribute to the development of user-centered solutions that empowered mobile network engineers in their day-to-day operations.
